We begin with cleaning all surfaces by pressure washing to remove dirt and algae. It also helps us to discover any hidden rot in the timber. Greasy areas (e.g. doors) are washed down with Tricleanium and hot water.
thorough workmanship Our second step is to sand painted timber surfaces back to bare timber, where paint is cracked or bubbling. This gives us a sound base to start our priming, without the threat of future bubbling or substrate failure.
thorough workmanship This picture shows, that what looks like minor rot, sometimes turns out to be a hole too large for a quality repair
(see next image).
thorough workmanship After drilling and chiseling, all is exposed…
Without thorough investigation, the rot in the stile (the stile being the vertical piece of timber to which the glass is attached) would not have been discovered, leaving an expensive repair bill in the future.
thorough workmanship This picture shows the same stile without the corner cover. As you can see, the stile has started to rot, but it can still be treated and filled.
In this case we simply replace the corner cover.
