After
the rot has been removed, we spray the
affected area with XJ timber preservative. XJ is a very thin solvent
which penetrates deep into
timber, killing fungal spores and preserving the timber like treated
pine. |
|
|
|
 |
We
then saturate the surface with Penetrol.
What Penetrol can do is amazing!!!
Penetrol is a thin oil-based primer which can penetrate up to three
times further than acrylic timber primer. It will solidify in and
around old weather-beaten timber, creating the perfect surface for
paint adhesion. |

This
is our first undercoat. Acrylic paint is very compatible with Penetrol
and it binds on extremely well. Traditionally, painters would use
oil-based pink primer. Unfortunately, acrylic paint does
not stick very well to pink primer and it takes days to dry |

Now,
time to fill. That big hole in the sill was pumped full of rubber
silicon and acrylic gap filler, and then skimmed with Nordsjo uni filler.
Uni filler can be sanded to a very smooth finish.
It is great for doors, windows, and fascias.
We also use acrylic gap filler to fill most cracks,
as they are unsightly and harbor spiders. |

This
is our finished window after seven steps of preparation and three
top coats of premium exterior acrylic. We think that after years of
research and development, this is our best process for delivering
a paint job which will last for a very long time and still be competitively
priced. |
